Screen shots of screen shots. From today’s ride: Meh, nothing much. The biggest challenge in preparing for this (and has been the case for me getting ready for any competition or project is I’m a late starter. Had to be at work at 4:30 and hoped on the bike at 2PM. This was serendipitous. On the way home I raced paced a friend of mine who is a long boarder. We stopped and when we did I saw my longtime friend who was certified bike fitter and accomplished cyclist. We talked panniers and gear rations (my feet just ran). This is so very different. A new challenge and activity to master. What I can say so far is “I LOVE SPEED!!!!” And my diabetes loves activity! Great blood sugars with a good diet I’m on smaller amounts of insulin.
In the AM made calls to the east coast and sent emails to JDRFs and ADAs. I spoke with the Baton Rouge JDRF office and they had many ideas on how to support the ride. Me riding with their Ride for the Cure Team when coming in Shreveport. Then followed up with meeting the families and children with type1. I wish they were all this easy to make happen. It is the ones that are amazing that continue to make me try.
Oh and while bussing tables tonight, moved / walked 14.3 miles. Weird but fantastic cross training.
