The day's ride:
This is supposed to be warm as in HOT! 25mph gusts of wind and from the north the direction that I was riding in. The winds was really brutal Began to wear a hole in my seat post bag already. There was a "dragging" sound going on forever. I could not figure it out. When I finally got off and checked everything out I say that the strap which attaches on top and clips to the end part that comes from the bottom of the bag had worn an almost tear across it. This gave me a lot to think about at least in how to fix it. It is still holding so not exactly desperate yet.
The size of all my gear is the real issue. I am really trying to go as light as I safely can. Almost gave up on the rain pants thinking "when is it going to rain? Never!" Then reality took over again.
Made a couple wrong turns which added a couple extra miles along the route only to give them all back and pedal back to where I was supposed to be. Is it the riding itself or the mission? A little of both so enjoy whatever comes to you. You must!
Met many people along the ride today. Most were impressed. Most knew of someone with Diabetes. I shared "Google 'diabetic Forest Gump' and you'll find me. This made them smile.
Thought about tomorrow's presentation to the Drew Charter School. Think I have a few good ideas but I will have plenty of time to rehearse while on the bike tomorrow.
Just 2600 miles to go!
