The day's ride:
Rolled out of Abilene and ran to the bank. Someone or specifically, the Pizza Connection Processing Center stole my cc info and my bank let me know. We shut the card down and I had to go to a location to replace. While in town we stopped into a local bike shop and asked for help with my Brooks Saddle. Like a baseball mitt when it gets wet it can do funny things. They did not have the tool. Ben and I went to downtown Abilene and got some amazing snacks and coffee. It has been several weeks since Ive had my Earl Grey.
The first hills went on for over 10 miles. This was insane and brutal but once through them it was a steady downhill and me being beat up, the bike being what it is I got to cover 18 miles in an hour which is flying. I started riding at about noon today so every second mattered in trying to get as many miles as I could while the light was still out.
Late into the ride going through Brent Tx there was a Halloween parade. I got to stop and share. Many people told me about there expiences with Diabetes. In the middle of the parade the 'headless horseman' came galloping down main street. It was a nice break and a huge help in getting me to finish my last 15 miles.
Ben was a Rock - Star today. Got me in safe, put up with my delirium, anger, thirst, hunger, sun burnt. you name it. It takes a saint to do support crew on these endeavors. Something I am always grateful for.
