The day's ride:
Woke up and really felt like quitting. I was sore. Spent from last nights reaction. Still jet lagged. Still exhausted from last weeks work in San Jose. A lot of great and valid reasons to give up. I thought "at least ride to the bus station three towns over." And we don't give in to that voices. I have been through too much, run over by a car, tore a hole through my hip lining, raced with cracked ribs and broken toes. It is the mental that always will make us strong regardless of whatever the life may be.
After 5 minutes of the negativity I created incremental goals for the day. 1 Hour, then 90 minutes. Text some friends and stomp on those pedals in-between. Just keep moving. At lunch I spoke with some EMT's asking them if they saw a lot of Diabetic patients. They have. The man shared he was a scout leader and had two type1's in his troop. I then went on to share who I was and what I am doing. They gave me two rings of the sirens when I headed out.
Spoke with JDRF in Jackson, MS and learned their chapter is coming out to the Indian Cycle Bike Shop for my event. Love it! Greatful for Mary Fourtune founder of the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi for creating this opportunity for me and the diabetes community.
Then the call out to hotels in the area. Thank you Heather of the Hampton Inn of Newnan, GA for supporting my ride and donating a room for the night.
