What to Expect at This Year’s AJ Bell Great North 10k
The countdown to this year’s AJ Bell Great North 10K is on and it’s set to be our biggest (and best!) ever, with over 10,000 runners expected to line up on the Great North Road start line on Sunday 6 July.
Expect a landmark-packed route, entertainment at every turn and plenty of crowd support throughout the city centre & all the way to the finish. Want the full download on what to expect? Read on.
A new and improved route
We’re delighted to have a new and improved route for 2025 which has everything our runners loved last year (city centre landmarks and that *iconic* Tyne Bridge moment). Plus, there’s fewer twists and turns and a high-octane start and finish on the Great North Road – easier to access and an even more electric atmosphere. Check out the new route map here.
Landmarks, landmarks everywhere
Tyne Bridge? Tick. Grey’s Monument? Tick. Universities, art galleries and museums? Tick, tick and tick. If you’re looking for a race that takes in the very best of Newcastle’s history and architecture, you’re definitely in the right place.
Entertainment overload
Power up to the Great North 10K’s Bands on the Run, sing your heart out to our Karaoke Kicks and get a home-straight energy boost at the Power Thru zone. And what could make your Tyne Bridge moment even *more* iconic? That’s right – a Beats Boost zone blasting out banger after banger. It’s going to be loud, proud and unforgettable. You’ll find full details on our entertainment map here.
Feel good with the Newcastle United Foundation
Once again, we’re partnering with North East community legends the Newcastle United Foundation. This year, their black and white wave – runners fundraising or showing support for their fantastic local campaigns and causes – is the biggest we’ve ever had. Look out for their special black and white run numbers and give them plenty of encouragement on the way! Find out more about the Foundation here.
Exclusive finishers’ t-shirt and medal
An unforgettable day deserves a memorable medal and t-shirt – the perfect accessories for a finish line selfie! This year’s finisher medal is a striking celebration of Newcastle’s favourite landmarks and features the Tyne Bridge, Greys Monument and the Great North Museum, captured forever in a medal that reflects the pride and passion of every runner who takes on the Toon. The perfect memento from the day.
Après Run
It wouldn’t be a Great Run without a Great afterparty. Join us for a party on the Town Moor, complete with music, food and drink vendors and the best atmosphere anywhere in the Toon. On your marks, get set, celebrate!
We can’t wait to see you on Sunday 6 July. Haven’t signed up yet? There’s still time. Sign up here.
