Running for Greatness: Kyle Nuttal
As this year’s AJ Bell Great Manchester Run weekend approaches – we’re shining a spotlight on some of our inspiring participants who are running for more than the medal when they lace up their trainers on the 18th May.
Meet Kyle, from Bolton, one of the youngest participants taking on the Great Manchester Run 2025. Currently 17 years old, Kyle turns 18 on race day – what a great way to mark reaching adulthood, using the true Mancuian party experience along the route to celebrate.
However, it’s not his age that sets Kyle apart, it is his passion and selfless mission to help others in his community. ‘I have always felt a calling to help the homeless,’ says Kyle. This has seen him use his own savings to provide parcels of essential items to the homeless, via the charity organisation the Oldham Street Angels.

Now Kyle is using running to help those less fortunate than himself. He first got into running at school just for fun, not realising how he could use it to support others. Kyle says, ‘I often run on my own, I enjoy it because it clears my head.’ Last year’s GMR was his first 10k event and after this year’s 10k he plans to do more running events to raise money for other charities.
Kyle, who has autism, is so relentless in his quest to support others he’s also raising funds for the disability football team he plays for, Oldham Ability Counts. His aim is to fundraise to buy the whole team a new kit and to say thank you for the donations they have all given to support Kyle’s parcels for the homeless.
What a young man! A great example to us all of the impact one man’s efforts can make to so many in a community.
